How to install throttle linkage at Carb?

OK, I will admit it. I have not figured out how to install the clip to hold the throttle cable to the carb. Can someone help a idiot with this?
 
And what is this idiot driving? Stock Q-jet? Chevy? Pontiac? Edelbrock? Custom or stock linkage? A picture could help.

Here's a picture of a TYPICAL setup (from a 307 Olds). You have the stud on the primary shaft arm, and the throttle cable end slides over it. Then a clip is pressed over the end of the stud and slides down to capture the clip and the spring on the outside keeps it from slipping off. Pretty easy.
