how to replace front speakers?

on a GP you got to drop the dash If I remember correctly... the speakers are 3.5in and buy the BEST quality speakers you can! Or stuff some tweeters and build some kick panels to compliment them.. 8)

I'm going to have to agree on replacing the speakers. I'm going to put new ones in before putting my GP dash in.

Cyrus,
You can do what Bonnewagon did. He installed two small speakers in the center of the dash where the other speaker enclosure is. That might be an easier alternative.

yes Jack, that was one of my ideas but i have another problem too ... i have weak springs on front and wornout shocks so after several months i can feel all dash shakes + doors 🙁 what 's your suggestion about this problem? how can i have a tight dash as before? after replacing all suspension parts

Hey Cyrus, if your dash is rattling then it's probably loose or broken at some of the attachment points. It may be a good idea to partially take it off, inspect, and re-attach it properly. That would also be a good time to do the speakers. There are several big bolts that can come loose but if there are any broken supports then they must be repaired or a different dash used. Dropping the steering column is a must and the dash bezel must come off too as well as the glove box. Inspect carefully for attaching screws and don't force anything. Some wire harnesses should be disconnected, but some can stay on. If you have the corner speakers, very good quality 3.5" speakers are available, as noted above. If you have the center grille, I used a double speaker set up that is used on Firebirds. Bad springs and shocks shouldn't cause the dash to rattle but they should be replaced of course if bad. Unbalanced wheels or a bad alignment will do that. Here is a pic of the speakers I used. I removed them from the Firebird mount and fabricated my own G-body dash mount.

hey Mark tnx for helpful post , i did remove some dash parts (cluster-bezel) before to put some small led lights there ... i don't think if some of those bolts or bolt supports broken but dash shakes alittle and i can hear noise from bezel&cluster

I agree with (Mark) Bonnewagon. The dash could be loose There's two larger bolts in the center speaker area. You'd have to pop the plastic grille off. There's one in each top vent..you'll see them..and then of course there's the self tapping bolts in the lower corners and near the steering column and center.
As Mark said, to remove or lower the dash, the steering column would need to be dropped. The gauge bezel, speedometer cable and various electrical connections..

Were you able to find springs and shocks for your car locally, or were there only the Caprice B-body component available?

sorry i wrote wrong name on previous post but i edited it correct, about parts we have so many of these cars here and their parts too - buick skylark, chevy caprice, caddy seville, chevy nova, chevy blazer, chevy camaro, pontiac firebird, and i bought some parts from summitracing yesterday by Khan helps and i should thank him here really . parts from summit are two front bilstein shocks , shifter cable , TV cable or 200r4 and spring compressor and i found a set of new moog springs here for 100$ 40cm tall and 0.705 wire + these i found all moog suspension bushings here for same price as summit or rockauto , beside my weak front springs one of engine mounts is worn out
