So, I haven't been doing G body things for a while now. One reason, no room. Another reason, I've been doing Camaro things. Some of you may remember that I bought a '17 Camaro SS about a year and a half ago. I loved that car and thoroughly enjoyed it but deep down I wished I had a ZL1. So, last week, I traded the SS in for a '17 ZL1 - 650hp, 6 speed manual. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS CAR!!! It came with a K&N cold air intake, a Raceseng shift knob, blacked out LED marker lights and a Borla Atak cat back exhaust.

First thing I added was an IGLA security system. It's really an immobilizer. No alarm or anything. It prevents the car from starting without the code. Camaros (and a lot of other newer GM vehicles) are way too easy to steal.

I only have a few pics of it so far but when the weather clears up, I plan to take it out and have some fun with it and get some more pics.

Love the ZL1s! Unfortunately for me, I guess, I'm not a major fan of the Gen 6 body. I like them, but the Gen 5 is way better looking IMO. It's why we ended up with two. The 2010 and 2013. The ZL1 is a manual 6 speed. I couldn't justify getting rid of it for a 2023/24 ZL1, so...

To each their own. The 5th gens are cool and they brought the Camaro back from the dead. Personally, I'm not a big fan of convertibles but I can see why someone would want one. I love the 6th gens and they're the last V8 with a manual transmission you can get from Chevy. It's crazy to me that Cadillac still offers a V8 manual car and Chevy doesn't.

Do you ever go to Camaro Fest in Bowling Green, KY? I'm gonna try to go this year if it works with my work schedule.

Camaro fest is a good time. Great time actually. Just avoid those idiots who seem to think it's ok to do a massive burnout near the Corvette museum like nobody's ever done one before. They tend to ruin the mood acting like irresponsible children. Other than that, it's pretty wild.

I live about an hour away from Bowling Green. I was gonna go last year but I wasn't feeling well. The year before that, Camaro Fest was in progress the day I got my SS. I wanted to go drive the car around anyway and ended up hanging out in the hotel parking lot after the days activities had finished. I had a good time just wondering around looking at different Camaros and talking to their owners. It seemed like a pretty chill atmosphere.

For the most part, as you've witnessed, Camaro owners are pretty laid back. There are a few, though...just like other afficiandos of favorite makes/models. They come in all stripes and colors. My parents used to live near where the museum is on Porter Pike when my dad was finishing up his career with Corvette. He had like a 5 minute drive to work. He retired several years before the museum opened.

I remember coming back from Afghanistan and waiting for the new Camaro coming out and then told it was going to be delayed some more.

2020 I went looking for a ZL1, ended up with the used 2015 RS which does perfectly fine. And then about a week after I purchased the 2015 I get a call..., guess what just gave it on the truck? So everything is timing, otherwise I'd be sitting here with a nice ZL1 blue in color and convertible, but still hanging on to the 2015 RS. No complaints.
