Just developed a knock in the engine, I don't think it's there when the car is cold, but when it's warmed up, this is what it sounds like:

Any words of wisdom? ](*,) curse_sign.gif

If it's not there when it cold and only when it warms up sounds like a carbon knock to me. Get something to clean the top end of the engine. I've used distilled water down the carb to steam clean it...

When i got my 305 rebuilt, i had the same knocking sound and was buggin me like HELL!!

I took it back to the engine shop and they keep on hearing it inside of the vavle covers, so they changed out the rockers etc.. at no charge and tried it again!! Still knocking ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

So they ended up giving me a new 305 block, and it ended being something wrong timing chain hitting the block and the timing cover....but the knocking traveled all the way up to the rockers...was weird, but ya...hope all works out...i would check the timing chain.

Well, the verdict so far is that it most likely the bearings. We tried to adjust the rockers, but that did not fix anything. This added to the fact that I have no idea what I have inside that engine (got it with the car, and prior owner couldn't tell me any details except that it was built by "trusted" people) led to the decission to pull the engine out and go through it. Sucks. But at least when I'm done, I'll know exactly what I have.

Stay tuned.
