called one trim resto shop in my area and got an estimate of $800-1000 to rechrome my trim pieces. :blam: Wasn't looking to spend that much DAMN DAMN DAMN :rant: Any one have any 86 cutlass trim pieces in good shape for sale? I need the window trim more then any.

ouch.

do you need perfect peices? what about just buffing out what you got? it willnt be perfect but it will be better. just my 2 cents.
 
What you see in the pic is after I've buffed them out. I'm going to try again with new covers for the buffer but my window pieces(around the doors) have so much pitting so my only choice is to replace them.
 
the quote above was for rechroming them. I just got off the phone with another shop near hear and to polish them is $15/ft. he says near show quality, mirror finish, he's the closest and I may be going with him to just polish them.

Yeah I'm very happy with the polishing my guy did he charges about $10 a foot. Chroming everything was double. His polishing looks pretty close to chrome. The biggest advantage in my opinion is cleaning chrome is a lot
Easier then polishing aluminum.
 
I still need the driver side window trim piece. But a local shop owner is going to let me have at his buffer/polishing wheel. So i'm going to try it again my self before i come out of pocket.
