Thanks, SLICK79WGN!

I don't have pics yet, but the carrier looks great. My wife says the car looked like it was missing something before, and now she says it looks complete.

Took me 2 hours - 1 and a half to go get the screws, etc. and 30 minutes to install it. Oh, and maybe another 10 minutes to figure out what went where.

In the process of putting it on, my buddy introduced me to a great store here in the valley called Space Age Paint (spaceagepaint.com). They not only will mix up whatever paint you want in about 30 minutes, they have all kinds of fasteners (which is what I needed), weatherstripping, molding, tools and books. Pretty cool.

I think I'll have them mix me up a couple aerosol cans for my touchup work.

glad you got it ok and got it on put up some pics when you can

post up some pics! sounds great!! ***(patiently awaits pictures)***

Finally got a chance to take a picture. not great, but you can see the carrier on there (barely). I can see why some people take them off, but I like it. Also picked up a bunch of little things at the PAP and got a Fisher body manual for 6 bucks.

Hope to get back to work on it this weekend.

Glad to see my un-used parts live on it is just ironic as hell to me that I bought my car and had it shipped here from phoenix and the roof rack found its way back

Good lookin' wagon. I took my rack off more than 10 yrs ago. I prefer it without. But everyone's tastes differ.

Jack 🙂

I love my rack, especially when I need to haul a ladder. No scratched paint. Plus it adds to my old-man-car look.

I suppose they're good for luggage and light weight ladders. Nothing too heavy. I had a desk strapped down to mine once...that was a no-no. But didn't have access to a truck or trailer at the time.

By the way Bonnewagon, where in Queens are you from?

Jack

The trick is not expecting the rack to stay put with a heavy load. It's just there to keep the junk off the roof. You need to tie the load down to the car with big 2" straps that go through the open rear doors and from the front to rear bumpers. A trailer hitch helps here. I've carried home six sections of stockade fence at a time that way, as well as several sheets of drywall.
