I've been trying to set an appointment with this guy for about a month and finally got to go see it. Not sure whether its a 78 or 79 but it is a turbo Century sport coupe. It had an engine fire but he had stripped a 78,9, or 80 turbo regal and has most of the under hood stuff. He has the Regal turbo hood but we are not sure it will fit. The original is warped badly from the fire. I only paid a few hundred bucks which I believe the spoiler is worth that to me. I could put it on my Salon. I'm wanting to build a full custom out of it but still look stock. He has three of the rubbery turbine wheels in his shop so I need to find one.

Garrett, I try to be open-minded and supportive, but...that's...just...

Twenty years ago, I bought a lightly wrecked '88 Formula 350 Firebird which I repaired and repainted. It had the honkin' urethane wraparound spoiler. I took it off to repair some splits and sun damage. Without thinking, I later turned the key to pop the hatch. Without 75 pounds of steel core and urethane, the monster struts launched that sucker up at my face. I missed losing teeth by millimeters. I got rid of the car later after whacking my head on the door frame enough times getting in and out of it that I went back to driving the wagon.

You've definitely got a rare one there HAFROD. Glad you were able to make a deal for it, and I hope you can save it. If it was me, I'd be looking for the powertrain from a newer GN (3.8 SFI turbo, with the intercooler), and I think a set of rims off a newer GN or T type would look cool on it. Just a thought. Sort of a slightly retro GN.

I wasn't suggesting anything, I just thought it was funny. It was cool that it had a 355 hp Smokey Yunich built V6 though with a 5 speed. I always laugh about the 70's style. My friends and I always joke with each other asking If they found any Cragar S/S' or sidepipes for their cars yet. My Dad tells us about his cars, and even though they would have been highly desirable today in stock form, he did the metalflake paint, flames, airshocks, and Cragars. Also built some power. He even asked about sidepipes when he ordered a new zo6.Haha. Had talked about flames on it also. Just the era I guess.

nice score! those butless cars are growing on me, and I actually find myself unconsiously seeking them out... wouldn't give up my regal for one, but the GP or the cutlass is another story... hope you can bring this one back from the brink, I'll be keeping an eye on the build threads for this in the future!

it would be a nice car to restore but sitting on the ground like that it rots fast from the bottom up

My engine will be a vortec 4.3 with a stock GN turbo (which I already have in a box). It will be set up just like an intercooled 86-87 turbo Buick but a blow through carb set up. Also will be intercooled. Not going for crazy power, just a nice set up with a good amount of torque.
