Umm, how do you tell the difference between sh*t and crap?

Why build a 305? You will be a lot happier with a 350.

HAhaha.....my bro had a 305HO in his 80 chevy truck. It really wasent too impressive. Not sure the exact horse power difference, but it wasent too much faster than the original 305. If ur wanting someting with some balls, id go with a 350. But if your just looing for a good, solid engine, 305 will do just fine

i don't know why you want a 305, but HO's had 416 heads, but there was only a 5 hp difference from a regular 305 and a HO.
just get a 350

Thought it was more like 40 horsepower. Getting a 305 H.O. makes sense, you can get a complete good engine for cheap from someone who is putting in a 350. The 305 is a good reliable engine.

ho's were rated at 185hp regular 305's in that same era was rated at 180hp

let me correct myself, a regular 305 of the same era was rated at 165 hp so it's a 20hp difference, I'm not going to knock you for wanting a 305 but you are not saving much at all, after you get the block machined, the rebuild kit cost the exact same price, so you should keep a look out for a 350.
