This is a bit hairy. I'm working on a '52 Chevy Panel truck that has been through a few states and owners since it had a Monte Carlo front clip welded underneath it. I need to convert it to the QA1 coil overs. There's a kit for a '71-'72 and one for '73-'88. What's the difference between these and how can I indentify which one I'm dealing with? By the way, this isn't my cluster f**k, I'm just trying to clean up the mess. Thanksguys!

I know the g-body front clip is pretty common for swaps to update front suspensions. What i would do measure it in some common points and compare them to a g-body front clip. Let me know and i can measure the same points on my car. I think... that 71-72 frames are wider cuz the cars were bigger before they started downsizing them...Correct me if i am wrong anybody??

The '70-'72 monte carlo frame looks like any '68-'72 A-body front clip with the exception that the suspension is stretched forward on the frame rails compared to any other A-body. The '73-'77 Montes were the same as any other A-body of the era, and the '78-'88 Montes were all the same as the other A/G-bodies.

Find some frame dimensions for each chassis and start measuring.

This is a response from someone on a classic truck board that I frequent. Is this a good bit of advice?

""The Monte Carlo front end could be one of three styles
The 70/72 Which has the caliper bracket that bolts on the spindle.

73/77 With the one piece spindle with built in caliper bracket. Not real popular for subframe swaps

78 and up which is now quite popular. These are the metric units and I believe they have metric threads on the bolts and lug bolts and that would be the quick way to tell. Plus they are smaller than the 73/77 units.""
