I have a 1980 Malibu wagon.
With the long speed with the idiot lights
Neither temp or oil pressure we’re hooked up when I got the car

i have this sending unit with this single on connector on it under the distributor. Is it a temp sending unit?

I have this connector extra dark green wire that comes out of the main loom. There’s no connector for it has been cut off. I believe this wire would go to that sending unit below the distributor

i also have this round connector. It appears to be light green, brown, and orange.it’s quote short and there’s nothing to plug it into

Finally on the driver side of the block between plugs #1 & #3 I have this weird sending unit with no connector in sight. What is this for water temp?

1 and 2 are the sending unit for an OE oil pressure gauge used with the gauge cluster. The connecting wire should be a single tan wire if it's a factory gauge package car. It appears that somebody has installed the wrong pressure switch for a sweep cluster

3 MIGHT be the temp sender wire cut short, or could be the A/C clutch wire cut short

The round connector looks to be the OE oil pressure/choke wire connector (non gauge car), the OE sender looks like this for non-gauge package cars

and the connector looks like this (should have 3 wires, though...brown, tan, and blue) Blue wire often ages to greenish and is the wire for the electric choke.

The sending unit in the head uses a slotted blade connector, should be a dark green wire with a white connector like this (it slides on sideways, slot towards the sender/head, and will also fit the replacement senders with a blade terminal)

Those are what I would venture, based on the pics provided.

The A/C clutch switch connector is larger than the oil pressure connector, and uses a light green and dark green wire at the connector

Also, be aware that the age/heat/grime tends to change the appearance of the color on these wires, you may have to go back into the harness wrap a little bit to get the true color

The proper connecor replacements are available at rockauto.com, and possibly your local parts store (though when I tried, they were higher and had to order them)

This is perfect! thank you so much
I forgot about how this motor was swapped in from some other year elcamino. Didn't even think about it until you said something about it being the wrong connector! When the guys before me slapped everything in real quick just enough to make it run. Meaning the elcamino had the cluster package.

So that means the round connector is for the original sending unit that isn't there anymore.
The dark green wire is the temp sending unit cut short. (I already have the AC compressor wire identified)

I was wanting to make sure that that's what all this stuff was for before I deleted it from the loom when i have the motor pulled out. I have an Intellitronix gauge cluster that has its own sending units and wiring that will go in.
Thank you!
