Next angle to consider: If I stuck with the cheaper 700R4, would anyone care to recommend the best axle ratio? 3.08? 2.73? As I said in an earlier posting, the 1-2 shift with 3.73s will be a good sneeze with the 700R4's 3.06 first gear.

That depends a lot on the motor and where it makes power; and your application for the car - street or strip?

Our wagon is going to have 3.08s backed by a 4L60E and 28" tall tires because its primary function is to cruise around.

We've also run 4.11s behind that same transmission and still turned around 2500rpm on the highway - liveable but not ideal (but, still got 20+mpg). Originally it had 3.08s in it when it was bought and was an awesome highway car.

But, the 4.11s were a perfect match to a stock LS1 (because I didn't the calculations and tuning before installing them) for the motor and transmission. This same motor (with a tonne of bolt-ons is going in our wagon)... hence the lower gears.

Just so we're clear the Camaro is donating its guts to the wagon. :wtf:
