Hi everyone!

G-body Regals have been my favorite cars since i was a kid. Im a huge Buick fan. I drive a modified, supercharged '97 Riviera right now, so im not new to the world of modifying cars by any means.

Im finally making the move to buy a Regal. I joined this forum to ask questions and browse around for info.

Here are my intentions for my Regal:
-Use an engine/trans from 3800 Camaro/Firebird
-Engine will be fully built and use a m112 blower
-e85
-<3000lbs
-Daily-driveable
-On coil-overs, or otherwise dropped a couple inches

So basically I'm looking for a shell to swap a motor into. Are there any years that are better or worse as far as modding capability goes?

this is the car im looking at. I will pull the engine and trans and sell them.

First off, welcome to the site. Lots of good people and information here. Sounds like an interesting project that you're planning. I frequent a couple of different G body sites, so I'm not sure if I saw it here, or on another forum, but there was a thread, I think about a year or so ago from someone who was planing to do a later 3800/5 speed swap into a G body. I haven't seen any recent posts on that one, so I'm not sure how or if it worked out for the owner.
I've always been kind of curious about the possibility of performing a supercharged 3800 swap into a G body. I figurd that since the 305HO in the Monte SS is rated at 180HP, and the '87 turbo Buick is rated at 245HP, then a supercharged 3800 ought to move a G body pretty well, and be something a bit different.
In your post, you mention using a 3800 from an F body, with the M112 blower. That's the blower from the supercharged front wheel drive cars, isn't it? What type of transmission are you planning on using? While you could go with coilovers, there are plenty of other options that would allow for good handling as well.
Try to find a Regal that has the best possible body and frame (meaning the least amount of rust), that you can. That way, you can concentrate on your powertrain and suspension.
Good luck with your project. Please keep us updated. Photos would be great as well.

Another thing to keep in mind-if you're going to try to use the front wheel drive type supercharger, that the supercharger drive pulley is on one end of the supercharger, and the throttle body is on the other end, so that will probably provide some issues with trying to work out an air intake, along with driving the blower. Just an FYI. Good luck-keep us posted.

Keep the 400 sbc and supercharge it. More torque and it still can be a daily driver. Or without a supercharger a 400 sbc built up a can get you 400-500 ftlbs of torque, depending on how far you go into it, and still be a simple n/a motor. The 3800 isnt going to be the same as that. At least I dont think so. What up doe. 8)

It has been done before in a cutlass, google searching should turn up the build thread.
Use the l67 instead of a 3800 from an f body
You will need a f body or s10 4l60e, (v8 trans will be the wrong bell housing)
You will need to modify the firewall
