Hey guys. I'm relatively new to the forum here, but I've been poking around quite a bit and think I've figured out how things work here. I've tried a coupl'a times to start up a build thread for my car, but for whatever reason, there just doesn't seem to be many responses to my posts. I refuse to believe that there's no interest in what I'm doing, I kinda think maybe the posts are just getting buried in build threads, and not getting any exposure. So, this brings me to my point:
I would like input from you guys as to if there's any interest in updates on my ride.
I've noticed that the majority of members here are at the point I was at when I built my car the first time almost 20 years ago. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but I'm looking to up my game and stretch the limits of my skills. So, be forewarned, if you decide that there's enough interest in my build, you'll see lots of intense fabrication and custom mods being done. It may not be your cup of tea, or be within your current means, but if nothing else it should at least have some entertainment value!
Please, let me know if there's ANY interest at all, or if I'd just be wasting my time. Thanks all.

Heres some pics of what I started with, and what I'm currently working on.

What I started with, my 1980 Olds Cutlass. Was built as a street brawler with a 455, TH400, and big converter.

This is roughly how it looks now. Building it in a badass ProTouring style. Still 455, with a T56 6 speed, Air Ride, Wilwoods on all 4 corners, custom side exit exhaust, etc.

The 455, rebuilt with a hotter cam, and prettied up some.
Here's what I'm working on now: I deleted the rear seat during the first build, and just closed it in with flat sheetmetal to pass tech at the local track. It was functional, but not very cool. This time, I thought incorporating something similar to the Corvette "waterfall" might be interesting. Here's what I came up with:

Anyways, this has gotten kinda long winded, so I'm gonna stop there. Those are but a small fraction of the pics and mods I've done, so if there's any interest, I'll continue. Let me know guys, want more, or no thanks?
Cheers, Donovan.

Nice work. More pics are always great. I can only speak for myself, but in regards to you not getting many replies on build posts. I usually don't comment on build post because they are to me a picture gallery and a great source of ideas, but not great at asking questions or commenting, because they get lost, because the focus of the build post is a showcase of the posters work and progress, much like the photo book on the car in a car show.
So Yes please post pics!

Its just the way this forum is (not the forum or members faults). I have another build thread on another site that's pro touring/show like yours with custom fab work. When I was working on it every day, I was averaging 700 to 1000 views a week. It is a matter of how many active members there are on the specific site. If you don't go into specific detail with lots of pics, for some reason most won't post a reply. I've been building 5,6,7 Chevy cars since 1992 and have had about 11 build threads since around 2006. I think your car is wicked and up to standards of todays very high end garage builds. I was already subscribed to your thread. If you want mega replies go to the pro touring websites. Its all about having lots of members. I myself like lots of positive comments. It is very motivational for me to keep going.

I'm the same, viewing build threads and updates is like a spectator sport for me. I love much of the stuff people are doing with their cars but enjoy it in quiet speculation. Many things are out of my scope of knowledge for me to comment on anyways.
To the point, of course I want to see you continue to post updates as I enjoy seeing what you're up to and particularly how you're getting things done, however you won't hear much out of me beyond this comment. Carry on, please!!

I'm by no means looking for major replies, I'm not an attention seeker. I would just like to correspond with you guys and get to know some of you better. The last update I did on my build thread, I was at the computer for like 3 hours, did a write up, posted a bunch of pics, and got one reply. There's something wrong there, whether it's lack of interest, or lack of exposure. Hence my getting a feeling for interest on this post.
Thanks for the couple of comments guys, please, keep them coming. So far the response has been positive.

It usually takes me about 15-20 minutes to upload pics and update my threads with a lot of detail. At the other site with my 55's thread, if I don't go into deep details, I'll get bombarded with private messages asking how I did this or that, what tools, thickness of metal, etc. It's definitely a change over here but members here are very friendly and knowledgable. That's the main reason I stick around here. I've had members offer me free parts and I've recently bought parts from a few members here at very nice prices. Other sites got too much obscenity and a-holes for me. So definitely stick around and update the thread when you can. WE LOVE PICS!

Looking good, keep it coming.

I have two build threads, one on a 85 Canadian 442 as well as an 84 Grand National. I have had some great feedback and replies but it was all about rust, weld, cut, take roof off, removing A pillars, removing frame pieces, painting myself...etc. Not to take away from the beauty in what you are doing but I mostly got questions about how to do this and that because for the most part.....was not really done by a person with no prior experience in his 20x24 garage. Please do not take it as arrogance just sharing why I feel people jumped in to ask, talk, and even sometimes doubt what I was able to do with cars that needed pushed off cliffs
