Welding the sensor in is NOT a way to successfully install it. You need to weld a threaded bung to either the manifold/header or the down pipe close to the manifold or header flange. The bungs are commercially available.

I think there is also a vendor that sells a bung already welded to a semi-circular piece of pipe. You drill a hole in your exhaust pipe and clamp this part over it, then screw in the sensor.
