I just did some research on EL panels trying to repair a dash cluster in a Sebring. Apparently EL panels will draw more power to mainatain their brightness as they age. This will eventually burn out the inverter or leave it underpowered. The inverter will convert 12VDC to 110-170VAC, depending on the size of the panel. I have never worked on one of the Buick panels. Hopefully this helps.
