DING, DING, DING!!!
The ElCo has a longer wheelbase than other G-bodies. The FRONT cable is unique to the ElCo because of this. In looking at the listings on RockAuto, it's clear that most suppliers (ie, Dorman) have this wrong, because they list the same part number for the ElCo as for other G-body cars. AC Delco and Wagner DO show a unique front cable for the ElCo. Note also that AC Delco and Wagner both list different front cable part numbers for ElCos with manual trans and with automatic. The fact that you say yours was "originally an auto car" makes me think you've changed transmissions. Bottom line is that you probably have the wrong front cable. By the way, all the listings show the same rear cables on the ElCo as on other G-bodies. The wheelbase difference only affects the front cable.
Right, that's kind of what I was getting at. I guess I will have to return the cable I got and figure out what the correct part number is. I dont see why the transmission would matter, I'll just buy one for an auto car, nothing was changed in respect to the parking brake. Thank you for the confirmation though!
