Just thought I would post this solution because it solved my problems. My 1980 monte was having a problem with intermittent power on the brown wire feeding the blower switch on the controls. I would shake the wires, pull the HVAC fuse on the fuse panel and put back in, and remove the 2 connectors on the hvac control box. Sometimes it would work for few days, sometimes seconds. This problem was blowing my mind.

Anyways, I started tracing the wires back from the control box towards the big blower plug under/behind the glove box and came across, what looked to be a metal bodied fuse holder. It looked to take 12v from the fuse box and splice it and send it to multiple points on the hvac control box, via brown wires. That was the only thing I hadn't messed with so I decided to try and take it apart, but couldn't. So I decided to just cut it out and splice the wires together. Everything works perfect now. So I guess the 36 yr old "fuse" was broken.

I've included pics so everyone can see what I'm talking about and I hope this can help someone out.

I'm guessing that is a circuit breaker.
