I'd get the olds 350. Easy, direct swap. 8)

Thanks Evan..

I need more info on the olds 350 the guy was super vague so that already has me on my heels.

I have a performance shop that will warranty an engine and give me core credit. so that might be the way i will go.

I don't want to sell her but I would gladly pass her on to a lover of the gbody. She has had so much work on her ..

OK time to drink!! cuz every time i moan about her Im drinking tonight!

Anybody need a good Olds 350 4BB there is one here in eastern NC in a pull it yard that has 67,000 original miles. I've never seen a cleaner engine in a yard. He is asking $300.00. Its a shame it's too far from NY to help you.

yeah that does blow!! but thank you for telling me!

Thank goodness I work from home cuz this is taking up all of my time to find what I need!

Well a local guy (well call him "R")has a 307 HO 442 from a 71 olds with 70,000 on it. he will install it for @ $1400. If he doesn't install it he will pull it for me and sell it for @ $800 tops.

He told me that the 350 olds that this other mechanic(We'll call him "K") has (that wants to sell me with still an unknown dollar amount) I would have to change the intake on it so that my edlebrock will go on it. (more $$)and yet again do the intake kit . The original owner (we'll call "P")didnt know many details about his olds 350 motor either.. except it 's been sitting for a while

I have not heard back from the mechanic "K" with my car that is "testing" the 350 olds. I wont even be able to hear it for myself unless he comes and gets me

This other guy "R" I can walk to his salvage yard 1/4 mile down the road. and i can have my car flat bed right to him THANK GOODNESS FOR AAA!

he's "R" redone about 10-15 olds.. that's his thing and he is good with them. he's just shady some times...(that's the rumor) but at this point "almost" every one that has touched that car has been shady with me.

I'm giving "K" till monday to get back to me so I can make some sort of a decision. "K" told me I would be up at least by the $2000 mark.

I wish I was in the bronx right now cuz Hunts Points boys would never lead me wrong and they would have had this done already! :blam:

And just as i wrote that last post "K" got in touch with me. He "saw" the 350 OLDS engine and took pics but can't get the pics to me off his phone. :blam:

Said there are ZERO miles on the engine it's all been rebuilt . "P" was going to put it into a project car but then sold the car. He also said my headers (which he took from my car to see the engine) lined up .

I asked about the Carb and the intake because I wanted my Edelbrock on it. and he said that it should be fine that i shouldnt need a new intake. There is a 4BBl QuadJet Carb on there SO THAT WILL BE FOR SALE!! (i also have the one from my 307 if anyone is interested)

The price of the engine is $750 so that is better since it has ZERO miles on compared to the 71 307 HO 442 engine which has 70,000 . both just about the same $$

I did ask if "P" could find the receipts for all the parts he put into the engine. not sure if he could but at least I would know for sure WHAT IS IN IT

I asked "K" if he could take a picture of the block #'s for me as well. Im not sure he was happy about that but heck it's important!

I was also told that if anyone would be interested in the 307 as a CORE it's worth it. So let me know otherwise it's going in the scrap heap.

Now I am just waiting on the curve balls if any that will come up when installing this 350 olds. So if anyone out there has gone thru this and can give me a heads up PLEASE let me know. This woman is so freaking tired of "bending over" I'd rather see it coming! ( was that too much for you guys? )
