86 4.3L v6 Monte Carlo has been running horribly. Rough idle, bad hesitation, dying at stop lights, unhooked the TPS and it starts running like a champ. The idle is not high or anything, would it be a bad idea to keep driving it with the TPS unplugged?

Yes, replace the TPS and adjust is as soon as you can. The computer is probably running in limp mode.
