Is it worth spending the time to rebuild or should I just get a th350 or 200 4r from the junkyard to rebuild???

I would say no...th350 is a good choice and parts are really cheap as long as you dont want the extra gear. If you do want od use a 200r4 or 700 and thats personal preference in most cases.

i have pulled 3 or 4 th350s from the salvage yard in the past and never got a bad one. i look for the ones that look clean and have clean fluid in them... i have since become faithfull to the 200r4 but thats me, a 350 is a very strong transmission, i just like having over drive. i wouldnt waste my time on a 250 but again thats me

At least it's not a 200c. If you were keeping the car a 3 speed & needed to retain lock-up, a 250c is fine, other than the band adjustment. There are probably some upgraded parts for it. If you were to choose to go with an OD, A 2004R is the way to go. They fit the exsisting area without drive shaft mods. Only question is what rear gear you plan to go with. I can't imagine driving a my car with it's stock 3.8 & 2.41 rear with an OD unit.

350s did not have overdrive

Some 350s. The 350c in fact, had a "4th" gear which acted like an overdrive. It was more of a precursor to overdrive.

Actually the 350c is a 3 speed trans. It has a locking TC which was good for a couple hundrend rpm drop at cruising speed as it would spin the trans 1:1 with the motor eliminating the TC slip or stall.
Good trans but I swapped it in favour of a 200-4r for the OD and lockup which was good for about a thousand rpm drop at highway speed spining the trans at 0.67 :1 with the motor.

Regarding the OP, run the 250c until it drops and start shopping for a 200-4r. The OD is worth the extra cost over a Th350
