Is the timing on the 4.3 computer adjusted?

I have an 1987 4.3 TBI. It seemed to have the timing retarded. Does this need to be adjusted on these engines or will the computer automatically adjust it on these motors?

I don't know much about those TBI 4.3's but I'm pretty certain you have to set the base timing on them just like any other engine. From there, the computer advances the timing.
