Is this an "i" sore, or an "i" want?

It looks like such a little piece of crap that you would HAVE to buy a new one every year 😛 At least its light enough to not need a helper to toss it in the dumpster.

in it? lol I thought it was one of those new biodegradable power roof recyclable dumpsters. Why would you wanna put your dumpster in a dumpster. Besides as it sits you can release the e brake and the wind will make it go away.

here it is...

They tried this concept in the mid 1980's with the Yugo- the $3995 new economy car. Your $3995 was much better spent on a decent late model used car. Once you add up all the factors, a car just having a low price and good gas mileage will rarely be the overall winner in the end. For someone who puts 40k miles on a car a year, it probably would end up being the winner. But for the average driver who puts 10-15k on a car a year, residual value will end up being the biggest factor to consider if you want to get in another new car 5 or 6 years down the road. Cars like that Smart that have a 1.0 liter engine and have to be worked to death to get itself up to speed at every stop light won't likely even last 6 years, Mercedes engine or not.

The biggest problem with Yugos was that the owner's did not do the maintenance properly, and the lack of parts due to the breakup of Yugoslavia. They needed a new timing belt every 35k miles. I remember looking at the odometers of several in junkyards and it was always near a multiple of 35k that they had died. If you live in Serbia today, you can still buy a new one. It's one of those cars like the Trabant or Beetle that people keep running for a very long time due to the lack of economic development.

the interior of a yugo sucked, it smelled like a wet dog, I forget whut they used, Id have to ask my dad. He sat in one and said it was a good deal except it smelled bad inside.

Well, the interior was horrible. Then again, my truck smells like a combination of stale pizza, dirty socks and old fast food wrappers so I can't comment...

I say, let that thing pull out in front of me........... Everyone talks about gas mileage and amount of power they have (or should i say the power they dont have) but what about safety, You can fill with a roll cage for all i care and it still wont be a "safe" car. When a car is that lite, it will fly like a bird if it gets hit by a real car.

If You want economy, power, and safety, get an older car. I picked up an 1989 VW golf for an everyday beater, I rebuilt the engine, and now have enough power keep up with trafic (and then some) and I can get 30 - 40 mpg in city depending on how I drive it and even more on the highway. And the thing is safer then most cars, the darn thing wieghs about 3200 pounds. It has more steel then some full frame cars.

And as far as money into it, I have put less then $2000.00 into the car. Counting all the general repairs over the 4 years i have had the car, like brakes, oil changes, etc.
