I ve been working on this project on and off for over ten years. Started with a mild 305-TCI street fighter TH350. Just a daily driver, been down the track only once with this setup. When people would ask me "is that a 350?", I would have to look down at the ground and tell them "no,just a 305."
Not anymore!!! I got ahold of a 1976 350 4 bolt. Made a shopping list of parts I would need.Every payday,I would call Summit and Jegs to see who had the better price. {got alot more Summit receipts than Jegs ..hint} Two jobs later, I had enough parts to bring this thing to life.I had a local Engine shop build the engine and dyno test it. Way too much money in this "beast" to do it myself. We got 475 HP 421 Ft Lbs Torque. Connected it together with a COAN TH 400 reverse manual valve body with transbrake. I got the 1983 Grand Prix as a gift from my older brother, after my 79 Olds Cutlass got rear ended by a girl that had her license for 2 weeks. Bent the frame, but the back bumper DID stay on!! We took the 3.8 anchor,er I mean engine, out of the Grand Prix and replaced it with the rebuilt 305 that was in the Olds. The 305 is now keeping a 88 chevy truck on the road for now. The 350 is now under the hood,er uh,,,the hood wont close,so there isn't a hood. Still need tips on rear end applications and suspension..so if anyone has any good setups, I would love to hear about them. Got few pics for you in profile..more to come...List of parts in engine also coming soon.

Hey there! 🙂 Nice to see a Grand Prix in Northern Indiana! I was just out your way a couple weeks ago in my Buick (running 16.60s 😳 ). That's a lot of power you've got there. There are lots of options for rear ends. Some can get away with a 28 spline posi and girdle cover in the regular 7.5" rear (like myself), but the more popular way is to find an 8.5" rear from a GN/Hurst/442. If you want, you can even use an old A-Body 12 bolt rear. There are control arm kits out there for doing just that. We have pretty good aftermarket support for suspension as well. UMI Performance, Hotchkis, SC&C, Hellwig, and Spohn just to name a few.

I been seeing some people saying that the older chevy Caprice "cop cars" have an 8.5 in them.Do those cars have coil or leaf springs? Gonna start searching the junk yards for a S 10 manual sterring box. Saw one at the track few weeks ago.Bolted right up.I got the AC/Heater delete panel in garage. Instal that and a Summit brand triple gauge. New at this,,should I work on putting the roll stop on the shifter and the trans brake on the wheel?..I noticed i was launching only with one hand on wheel .
