My girlfriend comes home and tells me her step dad said "one of your cars" was on a trailer by the railroad tracks. Well we head out and find the car. It is an 80 white Cutlass diesel car. Body is in great shape and the intierior was kind rough though. One family car. Guy comes out and pops the hood and there is the original 5.7 diesel motor in it! I strike a deal with them and it will be following me home friday.

So my 80 build thread will live on as an 80 though the original car will now be a parts car for this one. Oh it has another aluminum hood as well. I can't wait.

Sell the diesel to an olds nut so he can use it for a hot drag motor unless your gonna do the same.

That's awesome. I have an 81 Cutlass Diesel car. I get alot of good comments just cuz my car is diesel

id stroke the sh*t outta that diesel motor. go 455 small block gas motor 8)

I am kinda thinking about keeping the motor in case I find the other cars title and I could build it as a track car. If I could find a Seville fuel injection manifold I would be tempted to modify that for a later throttle body, build a Megasquirt and toss in a couple turbos  Hook it up to a heavy duty trans and then rebuild my 12 bolt...

Getting the rig for $350. The body is basically MINT condition, interior is kinda rough but not terrible, head liner is shot, paint is white (kinda off white) and still shiny, and it has some very light gold pin stripping, interior is the camel tan, steel wheels with the fake wire wheel hub caps. The car was originally bought new by the guys grandmother, who then gave it to his mom when she couldn't drive anymore, the starter died so it has been sitting for a few months and the city told his mom to get it off the street or they were hauling it away. He picked it up over the weekend and was going to haul it to the junk yard. My fiances step dad saw the car and let us know about it so we went and talked to the guy.

I will get pictures up as soon as I get the car home. It will be getting my 403 dumped in it, the 3.08 posi rear I have (unless it has something better in it but I doubt it), racing springs and other suspension bits and my Hurst shifter on a TH350. Interior will be stripped, the GTP seats put in, a cage welded in, F body steering column, Delta Pace car steering wheel, new tach, recolor the interior to black and grey with some aluminum panels thrown in, and a new stereo put in. Exterior will get a few little additions (it already has aero mirrors woohoo!) and a few custom bits built. The fun thing is I already have just about every part I need, only things I still need to get are the headers, dual exhaust, crossmember, the tach and the stereo.

Hey by chance anyone know what transmission this thing should have in it stock behind that diesel motor?

nice find.i always wanted a 80 cutlass.

Yeah I actually prefer the 80 front end to the '78-79 one. To me it just looks better.

I went with the fiance to get coffee this morning and she was driving because I was still half asleep. Well when we left the coffee shop she turned the opposite direction from where we normally would turn to come home. Turns out she was headed to go drive by the car so we could see it this morning  . I think she was just tormenting me because I can't get the car home until the end of the week.

I really can't wait to get this rig home and start tearing into it.

One crappy thing they had to bust the steering column to let loose the steering lock when they towed it home because the mom could not find the keys and the city was ready to haul it off. Once they got home she found the keys  . Oh well it was a shift on the column setup anyway which I have another in my other car and its getting the F Body column anyway.

Geez! So many distractions  . Sounds like a pretty great foundation. Toss the diesel in the '79 and turbo that b*tch. Boost it up till it pops head gaskets. When I worked in Pendleton we had a customer who had a Delta 88 and an old GMC with 5.7 Diesels. I did head gaskets on both. She said the mpg was great but they were gutless wonders and I always thought a turbo might wake one up.
