kickdown cable on 350 turbo

Is a kickdown cable really necessary for our g body's? I have a steering console shifter not a floor shifter I like my bench seat 😀
I recently bought the cable but can't find the hole or in the transmission or even how to install it. Its a built 383.

It isn't necessary but you will have to down shift manually. Better with a floor shifter for accuracy sake.
