Kill Switch

I am trying to install a kill switch. Can anyone tell me the color or which wire under the dash i can tap into? sorry i failed to mention..this is a '78 GP

Do you want a kill switch to keep it from starting, or to stop it from running at any time?

If its to keep it from running, it is a thick red wire. The connector is on top of the steering column, it will disable the starter.

To disable the ignition, it should be a pink wire. It should be the same connector on top of the connector. That is the power for the distributor.

ok, i think i got it. I am trying to keep it from starting. alarm is good but i don't have electric locks. so i will tap into the pink wire..

are those wire colors mentioned above the same for the 86 gp, i am doing the same thing in my car

They're the same for pretty much every GM car from that era. Make sure the switch you use can carry the current.
