Anybody know where to buy the steel cable wire that is used inside the actual stick of each lightning rod arm for the Hurst L.Rod shifters. Always seem to break over time or fray - used on both 3 spd or 4 spd versions. I have tried contacting the olds guys who rebuild them with no luck...anybody else figured it out or done a rebuild on their own? Looks to be similiar to inside cable from transhift cables used to for console shifters on gm cars but diameter seems to be smaller. Looking for a source maybe a place that sells this type of wire in bulk? It is a wirerope material but has a metal sheilding around the outside like a jacket to give it some strength. I just don't know the proper name to google.

I believe what can typically be used is piano wire. Almost the same thing, or at least works like the original did.
