Well,
I am a G-body-aholic. I have admitted I have a problem, and that is the first step...not that I plan on taking any more.

Got that out of the way.

Anyway, I have a buddy from the local drag strip that calls me up and says "Hey, do you need any Malibu parts, I got two of them, come pull anything you need or want, I am gonna' haul them to the smasher...."

So, around here, smasher pays $200-$300 a ton for car bodies. Both of these were rollers, one with a transmission hanging in it. I offer $600 cash and the firewall back '80 El Camino hull I had in trade.

Well, who could not offer to adopt these two helpless soon to be orphaned Malibu's?
I opted to rescue them both. The orange car got selected to receive a heart transplant when one showed up on the donor list...it did not hurt that is had very recent front end/brakes and use-able interior.

Then, off with the aluminum wheels to a more traditional Ralley wheel with skinnies and 8's.

Then the surgery went rather well, $400 for a new transplant 454 from a big truck:

But, the donor was less than formal with his life history :puke: ...the heart is suffering a knock :wtf:
So, in the mean time, underhood attention included a cowl extension from Gbodyparts, new heater delete from TNT (no, the 'No Littering' sign was there when I bought it), some touch up with rattle cans, dressed up the wiring and looms...

Fast forward to now....awaiting cylinder heads from the machine shop (-781 with 2.19/1.88 valves) is a .060 over 454 with a mild set of 18cc dome pistons L2465 (LS6) and a mild lopey idle street strip Elgin 1070P cam.

Better pics will come when I get it out of the shop. The machine shop said heads should be ready today or tomorrow.

This also presented itself on the donor list (craigslist), a Ford 8.8 3.73 posi from a 90's Fox Body Mustang.

Looks like I need to order a Baseline Suspensions kit to slip this under the car.

I am going to just re-drill the stock axles and drums for now, unless I find a set of wheels to make it work. I will look into the 31 spline upgrade for the posi and axles after I get it going.

Not hard to believe, I have seen lots of them die due to lack of interest or change in flavor. I try to save them or locate homes for them.

Short term, 11-12 second cheap bracket and weekend toy for the orange car (not really wanting to cage it up,...yet).
Soon as the new heart is in place, paint the bumper fillers hood (4 inch Glasstek cowl I bought off a MalibuRacing.com member) and trunk to match the orange, not sure, maybe black or white band-aid stripes. Gonna' leave the blue interior until I gather enough stuff to dye black or grey and swap it out. Leave it shifting on the column and bench seat.

I bought some SBC stuff for the maroon car, a 5.7 rod 383 with 9.7 compression, looking for an additional Vortec head (one of the pair I bought was cracked). I dropped off the SBC stuff Thursday when I picked up my -781s from the machine shop. The maroon car has a TH350 in it and 3 inch with turn downs, looks like Flowmaster style mufflers. I traded for a set of Flow-tech headers (I have had really good luck with them). I traded two of the 8 or 10 inch Centerlines off of it for some 5 inch wide ones. Picked up a rough pair of Fox buckets. It has a B&M ratchet shifter in it. I have a new Comp Xtreme Enegry flat tappet cam that is .507/.510 so, pretty close to the sweet spot for the Vortecs. I don't know what the rear-end is or the gear ratio...shooting for 3.73's with a 2800-3000 stall. Put it together and see what happens, drive it, race it, trade it, keep it, whatever. I do have some nitrous...for both of them...you know....just in case.

468, big stall, 9 inch with 4.11's, 4 inch with big flowmasters and the ralley wheels. I just swapped on a Victor Jr, and a whole lot of Push-Lock lines and an NX plate system. More details when I get it buttoned on up...

Oh, and I couldn't help it, I was surfing craigslist, nd found another Malibu that needed a new home.

Cool Centerline Warriors and Ralley wheels, roll cage/bar (8 point), supposed to have an 8.5 but, alas, it has a 7.5 with good 28-spline axles, cowl hood, and other good drag racer bits.....

So, it has been a local grudge car. It currently is slated to get my solid roller, square port, big piston, 477. I got a TH400 and a 4500 & 5500 stalls...I thnk the 9 inch in the orange car may find itself in the blue car and vice versa....

Go side tracked with house and job stuff....

This is the 10-1 468. Still in progress, I have since ditched the cogged belt. Added electric fans and puch-lock ppuel lines. Bought some new transmission cooler lines from Jeg's of all places, $38!!?!
