Well,
I am a G-body-aholic. I have admitted I have a problem, and that is the first step...not that I plan on taking any more.
Got that out of the way.
Anyway, I have a buddy from the local drag strip that calls me up and says "Hey, do you need any Malibu parts, I got two of them, come pull anything you need or want, I am gonna' haul them to the smasher...."
So, around here, smasher pays $200-$300 a ton for car bodies. Both of these were rollers, one with a transmission hanging in it. I offer $600 cash and the firewall back '80 El Camino hull I had in trade.
and
Well, who could not offer to adopt these two helpless soon to be orphaned Malibu's?
I opted to rescue them both. The orange car got selected to receive a heart transplant when one showed up on the donor list...it did not hurt that is had very recent front end/brakes and use-able interior.
Then, off with the aluminum wheels to a more traditional Ralley wheel with skinnies and 8's.
Then the surgery went rather well, $400 for a new transplant 454 from a big truck:
But, the donor was less than formal with his life history ...the heart is suffering a knock
So, in the mean time, underhood attention included a cowl extension from Gbodyparts, new heater delete from TNT (no, the 'No Littering' sign was there when I bought it), some touch up with rattle cans, dressed up the wiring and looms...
Fast forward to now....awaiting cylinder heads from the machine shop (-781 with 2.19/1.88 valves) is a .060 over 454 with a mild set of 18cc dome pistons L2465 (LS6) and a mild lopey idle street strip Elgin 1070P cam.
Better pics will come when I get it out of the shop. The machine shop said heads should be ready today or tomorrow.
This also presented itself on the donor list (craigslist), a Ford 8.8 3.73 posi from a 90's Fox Body Mustang.
Looks like I need to order a Baseline Suspensions kit to slip this under the car.

I am going to just re-drill the stock axles and drums for now, unless I find a set of wheels to make it work. I will look into the 31 spline upgrade for the posi and axles after I get it going.
