Any way to get some sealer around a leaky tire valve stem? I'm sure I used new ones when I mounted them, but now I have an annoying little leak that after several months goes from 35 to 20 psi. There's a tool that screws onto the stem to pull it through the rim when you change it out. I was wondering if I could use that to yank on it, draw it out enough to smear some sealer around it where it sits in the rim, then let it snap back in. I just want to avoid breaking the bead if I don't absolutely have to as they are bitchy aluminum snow flake rims. But I will if there's no trick to seal this damn thing. Any ideas?

if you use the tool to remove the valve you can pull it up enough to get something to seal it at the rim....

You mean remove the guts first? I think it's all rubber at the rim, right?

I mean just pull it up to expose the rim in that area..I think you can pull it at an angle you'll expose one side of it then do the other..

Yeah, that's what I was actually suggesting. And I'd use that black neoprene stuff they use to seal the bead. I think it will work, thank's Steve.

why not just replace the valve, they dont cost that much.

then you have to break the bead in the tire and if you don't have a tire machine it's a pain in the a$$. And look at his signature, you don't want to piss him off..

Right, I don't want to break the bead if I don't have to. It's sealed with the blackstuff and nicely balanced too. The thumb is healing nicely, thank's. For those that don't know I pulled an A-rod. I sat down and forgot my thumb was up my *ss....
