Does the lightning rod shifter use the same linkage for the rally pack gear indicator?

the rally pack if i am not mistaken does not have the gear indicator on a floor shift car. but if does it should still show because the gauge back is connected to the steering column for the shift indicator

Floor shift cars had both console and instrument cluster shift indicators thru 1984.
'85-'87 cars have only the console indicator, with a block-off piece in the dash.

The shift indicator on the dash is controlled the same as any other G-body, through the linkage from the shifter arm on the trans to the column.
The rotating collar (where a column shifter would be) has a cable clipped to it, and that pulls on the spring loaded shift indicator.

The difference is the shift indicator itself.
Regular G-bodies read PRND321
The Hurst/Olds are P RND321.
There is a larger space between park/reverse to accomodate the longer throw of the Lightning Rod shifter.

I think it has something to do with the fact that a cable is pulling the entire system and can't get the column to rotate as far to the column stop.
It's a cable and they stretch to some degree too... versus having a lever on the column you naturally will rotate all the way to the column stop.
