Local Car Show

So last saturday, me and Dylan went to a car show at a local GM dealership. There were alot of G-bodys there so I have quite a few pics.

First off was this REAL nice silver monte ss with 61,000 original miles and the 305 HO. Looked really good...

Next we have two burgundy monte ss's. The one with the hood open had a 350, the other is unknown...

There were plenty of turbo buicks at the show. Two t-types and a gn...

There were quite a few el camino's there aswell. My favorite being the orange elky with what was either a 350 or a 383, cant remember...

The rare 78-79 Hurst/Olds W-30 was in attendance...

Hmm I wonder who's 2+2 this was ...

A nice 1970 Lemans wagon was there, Dylan really liked this one...

Nice black cherry Monte, the silver one is really nice too I just am not a big fan of silver... I guess it's true that G-bodies are popular in Michigan. :lol:

I like the Hearse next to the white T-type and the 64-67 Vette (can't tell by just the little corner of it in the pic) next to the white Elky... It seems like most people want those Vette's in convertible I always thought the coupe was much better looking. And what is that the back of a 67-70 Mercury Cougar parked behind the same white Elky? Those have some of the coolest tail lights of any cars made...

Yep thats a Cougar, I didnt really get a chance to look at it though. You were right about the Corvette, and come on, the convertible is amazing! Number 2 on my top 10 favorite car list is a light metallic blue 63 Corvette (hard top or convertible). Oh yeah, that hearse you were talking about, look at the pic of the t-types back end. The hearse was kinda a hack job. The back part of the roof was cut, and they used wood to close it up. No wonder though, the guy driving it looked like a 60s stoner hippy (lol). Oh and about the black cherry monte, are you talking about the 1970 with the 454 or one of the SS's?

Ahh I see that's a shame I didn't look at it that closely I thought that was part of the light pole or something in the way. I've always wanted a hearse. :lol: There's a 1960 Cadillac Hearse/Ambulance for sale here on CL, I'd snap it up if I was rich and restore it. Looks like it's in rough shape but that's an ultimate car... Pretty much identical to the Ghost Buster's car (minus nuclear powered ghost busting equipment of course) except I think theirs was a 59 because of the bullet tip tail lights. I'd go over the top with it, triple black with grave digger green flames, with a little Rat Fink theme, funny car zoomies with flame throwers, and a Hilborn injection or a chromed out 8-71 blower on top of a big rat motor sticking through the hood. That would be so awesome... Tacky... But awesome what can I say I have little kid/red neck taste.

Well now that you mention it, both Monte's... But you posted the second batch of pictures while I was replying the first time, so I was really talking about the first one the SS with the cowl hood. I love the plum crazy Challenger too...

Yeah I was all over that Challenger when I saw it, me being a mopar guy and such. The hearse idea sounds like a true rat rod! I could picture it now with the huge blower sticking out the hood. That'd be badass. Anyway yeah I liked the Monte's too, the first gen Monte is my favorite though, its just a big awesome boat, and I absolutely love those taillights.

I like the SS better, but I really like the 1969-1972 Monte Carlo's a lot my dad had one, it was a resto project he gave to my sister because she needed a car to drive and she sold it for scrap. She thought it was embarrassing to be seen in a car with primer on it, with loud exhaust (glass packs)... All the thing needed was some decent rally's or some other rims and a cheap maaco paint job and it would have looked pretty damn good. All the body work was done in it, not perfect but decent... And it had a rebuilt all stock 350 small block and th350 trans in it, nothing really special but it ran great I doubt they had more then 10-15 thousand miles on them by the time she got rid of it.

But what are you gonna do... Most girls are dumb they'd rather have a late 90's used Dodge than a early 70's luxury muscle car. And I was only umm 14 or 15 and she would have been about 21 or so, so she got first dibs. Then he bought my brother a Monte SS, a 74 Corvette, a 73 then 77 Monte Carlo pretty much all of them he crashed or took apart and then sold at a major loss when he'd lose interest because he wanted something else. He also finished some of them, but I'd say the majority of them never got passed the being taken apart stage and to the getting put back together part. And what have I ever gotten? Zip...

I like the 1969-1972 Grand Prix's even better than the Monte's (especially 1969 and 70)...

Wow that sucks. If my sister ever scrapped a car like that id have to smack her a couple times, lol jk. Yeah I like those years of the GP's, my favorite being the 77 (it has the best looking front end ever), but the 70-72 is really nice.
