Long Black Wire on Back of Radio?

What is it? My other radio didn't have it. I pulled this radio out of a 1990 Buick Century wagon.

I remember other radios from that time and black was always a ground. A pink wire was usually for the power antennae.
 
if you are going to use that radio to play your cassettes I would be concerned that with a radio that old and maybe has been sitting around for a long time that the cassette mechanisms are dirty and corroded...

I took it apart and cleaned it. Works fine. Just was a lil dirty.
