It appears I have three options, but I cannot say I am comfortable with any of them. These will be for my 87 442 with Hotchkis TVS system lowering the car about an inch. The three options are as follows:

17x7 w/4" of BS
17x8 w/4.5" of BS
17x9 w/5.0" of BS

Has anyone run any of these on the Cutlass with no issues? I know I can run the 17x7 or 17x8 but I don't want the wheels tucked in too much. Anyone got any photos or experiences with these sizes?

Re: Looking at 17" American Racing T70R's but not sure about

I have 17x8 with 4 3/4 BS on the front of my car. My tires are 245/45/17 and they rub at full lock. I am planning on installing the LS brake mod on the front and that should move the wheel out about 1/4. That's about all I think I have room for, so I think the 17x8 should fit well on your car. Do you know what size tire you are going with? My rear wheels are 17x9 with a 5 1/2 BS. My rear tires are 275/40/17. I am using a 1" bolt-on spacer to bring the wheel out to be about as good as I can get it. I also had to roll he qtr lip. There's some pics in my gallery. Here's a link to the website for my wheels.http://www.coyswheel.com/coys-c67.html
Hope this helps.

I have seen this car and imo the wheel & tire sizing are perfect.
If I have anything to add its that if you have more serious power under the hood consider opting for drag radials in the back. Ive had good luck with Nittos & M&Hs.

I love the look of your wheels and the fit looks perfect. I just don't want to use any spacers. I think I'm ok going with 17x8 on the front with the 4.5" backspacing. It's the rear I'm worried about. Id like to do the 17x9, but just not sure if I can get away with the 5" BS. As far as tire size, I'll put whatever will fit. I don't need to have a big fatty in there, as I am just trying to get a small bit of the pro-touring look.

I agree on the Nitto Drag Radials. The sidewalls appear to be harder than most and actually ride like a regular tire. I have them on my 87 GN which has 17x9 & 4.5" BS. And they fit perfectly. A buddy of mine had Mickey Thompsons in the same exact size as my Nittos but they had a bigger bulge and rubbed. Funny how it makes a difference from brand to brand.

Re: Looking at 17" American Racing T70R's but not sure about

I am actually strongly considering a 17x7 front and 17x8 rear setup. I really want a staggered setup and this malibu in the thread below got me thinking and it should give me plenty of room to prevent rubbing:

Question is, what tire size. I was thinking 225-45-17 up front with the 17x7's and 245-45-17 in the rear for the 17x8's. Thoughts? I'm getting real close to pulling the trigger on this wheel order. 😉

I have 17x8s all the way around with 225/50 up front and 245/45 in the rear and it looks good with no problems at all

I like your set up what backspacing are you running, FT and Rear.
I am looking at a set of Coys C5 17 X 8 but I am not sure on the back spacing.
I am thinking 4.5 all the way around.

Same size tires with the 17x7 & 17x8 ie 245/45 & 275/40. Nothing wrong with those rims on a G at all. The 225s & 245s look too short & small on a gbody IMO. More sporty economy car size than muscle car size.

What offset? Is your car lowered?
