Alright ive been looking around and found an 86 cutlass. 140k miles, column shift, 307 dual exhaust, no heat or ac right now. White with maroon interior. says he drove it daily for a year and is still capeable of being a daily. asking 700. What do you guys think?

Yep, I haven't found ANYTHING that runs that isn't completely rotted here for that price. I can find a $1,500 car with a worn out V-6 that needs a rebuild but a good body, or I can find a 307 car that needs paint and dent removal for the same. I can't recally last time I saw a running G-body here for under a grand.
Yep, I'd get it if it isn't all rusted out. Check the door bottoms, floors, trunk pan, and around the wheel wells.

If the body looks solid make sure you look underneath the car especially the frame make sure its not rotting nor rusting and the body bushings are a-ok. And then you have yourself a solid car 😀

I would definatley grab it if its in decent shape. I got my monte for $700 back last summer. Just be prepared for ALOT of work and ALOT of money

Thats a lucky find if the car is solid and runs like he says it does. I would still have a trust worthy mechanic look over it before the buy but if everything checks out then i would go for it.

i paid $800 for my regal and she didnt even have a motor and i need floor pans rocker, pamels and a couple mounts rotted off the body and i still bought it people c what we do wiht old cars so they want top dollar

its amazing how much a price difference there is between a base cutlass and a nicely optioned salon or something to the like. for my 87 i paid 2000 and it was damn clean when i bought it. after 3 years it needs doors and a passenger floorpan (with me constantly pampering it!...damn winters). but at the time i saw it, i fell in love and had to have it. i probably could have shopped around for a better deal but whatever. 700's a killer price for a solid car. like anything else, you need a solid foundation to start with otherwise things can get out of hand really quick.

Thanks for the info guys. Im gonna try and go look at it this weekend if i can. He says its got a posi and dual exhaust. Paint im not really worried about as long as its relatively straight. One of the first things thats happening is its going flat black anyway. The heat has been removed apparently so ill have to get a heater core back in there at some point but at least its not the beginning of winter.
