Looking for lighting rods

Hey this is my first time posting lgot a 81 Malibu after my friends totaled my Subaru at 13 and as luck whould have it I found the car on cregslist 4 hours after i got the news that it was toast and it was meant to be I love my baby sadly someone stabbed my ratior and I ended up cracking my block (no temp gage but you know the saying ol chevys don’t die that just get faster so I’m re building her with a Vortec 350 long tubes and a rpm air gap and was wondering if hurst ever made a lightening rod shifter for a th 350 and if you have one laying around I’d pay for shipping I’m just trying go get my baby smoking tires again (also willing to drive up to 300 miles to pick it up) I’m not online a lot so if you could call me at 512-529-9118 it’d be much appreciated

If I am not mistaken, the 83/84 hurst olds came with the 200-R4 4 speed, so an actual lightning rod set-up (if you could find one) is made for a 4 speed automatic.

There are aftermarket lightning rods.. Killduff makes them for 3 and 4 speed. Pricey, tho...

Yes, Hurst made 3 spd Lightning rods. Search Ebay if you want one or buy the more the more robust Killduff rods.

I GOT ONE laying around the only problem is one of the knob is missing

I have plenty new LR knobs if you need any...

And a 3 speed LR setup will mount just like a 4-speed. It's all in the detents. The physical difference between 3 and 4 speeds that you can see would be the center rod is taller on a 3 speed. 4 speeds were made with the rods about equal height. Probably for aesthetics.

As I get older I do talk to myself more. Just for conversation since we’re on the subject, has anyone ever put Lightning Rods in a 4-door car?
