Looking for quality proportioning valve

According to the parts book, the 82-84 Camino used the same valve the G-body cars used. I'm imagining that the earlier Caminos did as well. So if anyone is interested in Neill 's valve, his will fit most other late A and G-body cars. That's a good deal right there.

Starting in 1985, however, the Camino used a different valve. P/N 25516011, superseded to 25510208. You have to make sure a combination valve will work before you simply just slap one one. Different proportioning springs could be used changing the valve's performance at the time you need it most.

Your 84 Monte SS is good all the way from 78-88. It's the El Camino valve that you have to watch out for starting in 1985. I don't have a clue why the Camino, and I guess Caballero too, changed to the new number. All the other G-body cars used the same HJ valve it seems. But yeah, if it's an original Kelsey Hayes unit from an 84 Elky, it'll fit.

I am unsure if there is a quality one, but all the "universal" prop valves are GM replacement valves and should bolt into place. Is there a difference between a $30 prop valve and a $60 prop valve? I don't know. I think you can get these "universal" prop valves in brass or aluminum. Out of brass or aluminum, I am not sure which one would be better.
Probably all the same quality, made in China. I would prefer brass over aluminum, for starters, the aluminum would be easier to cross thread when reattaching the brake lines.

It's hard to say how they compare to the GM stuff. GM never built a thing, they had some vendor make it. So it's possible Bendix or someone else made the valves, which made valves for everyone else as well. Meaning same part. But again, maybe not. It's hard to tell when there's no tell-tale markings. I do know that it wasn't long after G-body production the valves went to brass.

OEM cats doesn't sell squat. They list where you can find the items mostly, but their data isn't always up to speed. That combo valve is no longer available at GM parts giant as their website no longer shows it as an available part.

SO........it's gone. Secondary markets if you can find them. Problem is trying to actually find a genuine GM one.
I've never done business with O.E.M. cats.com, but if I could find what I wanted from them, why not ? My master card's got my back.
