okay i was replacing my lower ball joints. didnt even have to use the press i rented. they cam out with a few good hits from a dead blow. well one side cam off good and went on nice and snug. had to tap it several times with a dead blow to get it all the way in place. but on my passenger side it came out way to easy. i put it in and when i bolted the spindle on i could tap the top of spindle and it would drop out the lower control arm. so i took it back and got a moog one that is supposed to be oversized. before i put this one it i beat the control arm around the area where the ball joint goes in. i put it in and it is in there snug but im still skeptical about once the weight of the car is on it and im driving. i want to get aftermarket tubular control arms but they got to wait cuz they are 5 bills. i was thinkin of putting a couple of tack welds around it just to be on the safe side. anyone else have this problem before? what did yall do about it?

4 small welds ( a good 1/2" each ) are holding both my lowers in. Common problem, common ( cheap ) fix.

I just in the process of reassembling my car and I'm using tall impalla ball joints that need a collar to fit and I just put one good tack weld to hold it. The lower ball joint always has the spring pressure to hold it in unless you bottom out the lower on the frame

my concern was if i were to hit a pot hole hard enough to make the ball joint pop down from the control arm. im just gonna put some small welds to be on the safe side.

You would have to be airborne AND have the upper control arm hit the bump stop for that to happen. In that case, the ball joint is probably the least of your problems.
