I want to lower my car a little, say 2" front and rear. Would it be OK to cut a coil off each spring to accomplish this? How would the ride quality be?

I think the rears are pigtailed on each end and can't be cut without re-coiling them.

Thats what I thought too until a few guys at MR said they cut their pig tails off and there was still room to seat the spring. Not sure how good of a solution that would be though.

But some of the F-body springs aren't pig tailed at the top and can be trimmed.

Iv recently cut mine, you just need to make sure to cut the top of the spring (rear spring). I like my cars real low so if i were you i would start by only cuting half a loop then set the car down and see how that sits. If you want lower do another half, until theres nothing left.

went with some suspension technique coils
lowered 1.5" for a cheap cost (below 200)

coil itself is .125 thicker should handle better also

Thanks for the replies! I've got the stock springs in there right now. I'll give cutting em a try and see how it goes. I can always get a new set of lowering springs if I mess up! 🙂

whatever you do,
please act with great care ...
cutting a front coil when in place is very hasardous!
my friend lost an eye when doing this!

lots of energy is released when coil will colapse
