Production for all G-bodies ended in December '87. The last few Montes and Cutlass' got built as '88 model year while it seems that the Regals were built as '87s until the end.

IIRC in the late 80s the "Cutlass" name was on at least 3 or 4 different cars and they were keeping Olds in black ink - the name had a good reputation. Olds big wigs were probably in no hurry to discontinue the G body.
I searched Autotrader.com for the 1988 model year and got 2 or 3 examples of 2 door g body RWD Cutlass - so they exist.
