Planning on swapping an LS1 into the 85 Elky this summer and I am starting the parts gathering process. I know I need mounts, a rear sump oil pan, transmission cross member for the 4L65, harness, etc. any thoughts out there around fuel delivery? I've heard you can use the fuel tank from the 4.3 fuel injected camino's which have an in tank pump but not sure. Any thoughts, comments, testimonials, warnings, or new cuss words that I can utter during the process are welcome!

I did a swap in 2002 before there were many swap parts. You have lots of variables of how to do certain things, engine setback etc. I notched & reboxed my crossmember for f-body oil pan & factory location of ac compressor, which I later swapped to a sanden after 2 failing ls1 units. Pics in photobucket link.
As far as fuel delivery, 4.3 tanks are getting harder to find & the aftermarket models have issues.I'll later be swapping my setup to the caprice wagon/ roadmaster model in this link.http://www.elcaminocentral.com/showthread.php?t=49271

Also go to ls1 tech.com. There is a g-body thread in the conversion & hybrids section.
