wow for 2500 bucks i would do it myself. and if u dont know how it would be a good learning experience. unless u just cant do it and must pay, 2500 sounds decent considering u have to used a different trans, exhaust, and figure out a way to wire the engine and ecu or else use edelbrocks carb setup. it takes alot of work for a swap. but i got to look for the pics of that camaro. and it wasnt a lsx block just the stock ls1 i rebuilt. but my friend has the lsx with the ls7 forged rotating assebmbly. i know he spent 7k on the motor. he had the block already. i remember he got it for 600. when we worked together in autoparts this guy showed up with one one day. and once we saw what it was he jumped on it. it was brand new in a crate.bapekidon4s said:thanks well the guy who is doin my swap charges 2500 for ls swaps the LSX block is 1500 new any idea on how much your boy spent buildin his LSX i might do stock specs for now as well. all my money is going into that engine but i wana have a clue on how much is going to be going in that LSX because if its TOO much ill just stick with a LS2 swap instead you know. any pics of your LSX by tha way?
i called him up. he spent a lil over 7500 on the bottom end and heads. he said he spent another 2k on his intake, oil pcv system, and his fuel rails and injectors. and he just said his trans is actin up now to so now he is gonna beef it up. it was the stock auto that came in his car.bjohn07 said:wow for 2500 bucks i would do it myself. and if u dont know how it would be a good learning experience. unless u just cant do it and must pay, 2500 sounds decent considering u have to used a different trans, exhaust, and figure out a way to wire the engine and ecu or else use edelbrocks carb setup. it takes alot of work for a swap. but i got to look for the pics of that camaro. and it wasnt a lsx block just the stock ls1 i rebuilt. but my friend has the lsx with the ls7 forged rotating assebmbly. i know he spent 7k on the motor. he had the block already. i remember he got it for 600. when we worked together in autoparts this guy showed up with one one day. and once we saw what it was he jumped on it. it was brand new in a crate.bapekidon4s said:thanks well the guy who is doin my swap charges 2500 for ls swaps the LSX block is 1500 new any idea on how much your boy spent buildin his LSX i might do stock specs for now as well. all my money is going into that engine but i wana have a clue on how much is going to be going in that LSX because if its TOO much ill just stick with a LS2 swap instead you know. any pics of your LSX by tha way?
Doober said:Good luck on NOT spending an arm & a leg on anything with LS at the beginning of it.
Doober said:Well, people are making 600+hp on iron 6.0 blocks (heck you can make 500 with a stock bottom end with stock L92 heads and a cam), so unless you're aiming for even more HP than that, I'd just stick with a production block and keep costs down. You can get a mostly (or completely) complete 6.0 for half that $1,700, and invest the remaining money into L92 heads and an intake, then go from there.
