Hey guys, anyone running an LT1?

Wondering if LT1 Camaro headers (longtubes) will fit my Malibu

Also wondering if the oil pan will fit.

LT1 is out of a 96 Camaro, I do not have access to the donor car.

The oil pan on the 96 LT1 will fit in the 78 Malibu application. I seriously doubt the Camaro long tubes will fit. We have an LT1 from a 94 Z28 in the wagon. We used long tube headers designed for the standard small block chevy / gbody application. They bolt right up to the LT1 heads.

Ok I know the LT1 heads are different than SBC ... but the SBC headers will fit??

Also out of curiousity, did you keep the FI on your LT1 swap?

FYI, get all the harness and ECU because you'll need all of that. Be aware that the 96 LT1 is an OBD2 platform so self tuning is far less easy than if it were and LT1 from the 94-95 model years which are OBD1. The OBD2 can be converted to OBD1 and its a common thing that people have done so they can self tune with laptop and free software.

We have Summit Racing brand long tube headers that were on the old school 350 that was previously in the car. They bolted right up to the LT1 heads and with Percys dead soft aluminum gaskets, we have zero leaks.

We kept the stock 94 LT1 fuel injection and all related control systems. Here's a ling to the thread. It's a lengthy saga but basically done now and a pretty cool setup

What are your plans for a transmission? What transmission is in the donor car?

Nice Build! I didnt go thru all 28 pages yet, but what did you do for your cooling setup? Did you reuse the Camaro radiator?

So I am going with a carb swap up top, (GM LT1 intake, opti blockoff plate) and I have a close ratio T10, g body bellhousing and Hurst shifter from a 55-57 chevy to utilize the bench seat.
