hi everyone , im still doing the lt1 swap but i have ran into a little problem, im using the stock monte radiator and i have the caprice lower hose but the hose is smaller, does and one know what hose i can get besides the flex one. car or parts numbers would be great, any help would be great thanks

Take out the radiator, with it laying on the ground use a lil bit of soap to lube the fitting then try and slide the hose over. It will be a very snug fit but it WILL fit. Just put in a Monte Carlo radiator in my LT1 cutlass using stock Z28 hoses upper and lower. I had to put the lower hose on before I put the radiator in.

Napa has hoses with different hose sizes at each end. You'll have to go there with the diameters you need and look thru the books

Or use the larger diameter hose and sleeve the smaller nipple. I'm thinking a radiator shop would have a selection.

I'm poor so I used the larger hose and one of these radiator hose adapter things from Summit for $6. It's been on there for 2-3 years now with no leaks so far. heh..

Good luck!

You can also go into the plumbing section of the hardware store and look for an adapter for which the two outside diameters are the right size to fit the ID of the two hoses needed. I used a stock roadmaster or f-body upper hose, cut it off down low, and adapted the right size 90 degree onto the end from a new hose i found at autozone(just ask if you can look in the hoses for a cheap one with the right size and shape). I found the copper adapter in a plumbing box i had and swaged the ends using a block of wood and dull screwdriver(poor man's solution but it worked like a charm) i won't argue that it isn't the most elegant solution, but it hasn't been a problem for me at all since i did it a few years back.

chad do u have pics of what it looks like? thanks

I did the same thing that dyrt did. I think the hardware store calls those things "menders". I used parts of my old factory Buick hose, parts of an old factory LT1 hose, and part of a new hose off of an unknown vehicle. I got the parts store guy to let me walk the isle until I found something that looked like what I wanted.

I don't have any pictures on hand. My set up looks terrible, but works. Half of it is held together with zip ties. lol I would go a different route if you are wanting something nice to show off. I'm just in it to go fast. heh.. If I get some time this week I'll pop the hood and snap a picture or two.
