I was curious if anyone was running this camshaft on here and how do you like it? Lunati voodoo 20120711LUN 270/278 @50 .219/.227, lift .515/.530 112lsa.

I've been able to find post asking about it on other sites but no posts from people that are actually running it. Seems like it would be a very mild sounding street cam in a 383. I've managed to find a couple of videos of it on youtube but they ether have it idled down to 500rpm on the verge of stalling itself out or idling at 1000rpm to make it sound like a stock cam.

Never used one, but that camshaft is very similar to the GM LT4 hotcam, you can find YT videos of people using in 350 engines to get an idea what you're looking for, you'll be looking at 800rpm for the idle, initial timing of 16 degrees and 34 degrees total timing.

That's nice to get an idea of what it might be like. I suspect the Lunati may have a little more duration above .200 lift from what I've read plus the extra .025" of lift. I might come out ok with the Lunati. Not sure on the intake closing because the cam card says 35.5° @50. I was shooting for around 450hp at the flywheel on 87 octane. Originally planned to go with a comp xr288hr but the stock 4.3 has gotten to where she can only maintain the speed limit down hill and flat ground. So I needed something that would work with the stock converter for now.

Kinda worried me at first looking at hot cam dynos. All I found at first were basically stock vortec 350's making low to mid 300hp to the ground. 🤣🤣 like no that can't be close to my build

It appears the Lunati practically is an lt4 hotcam ground 6° advanced instead of 2.6° with a little more lift and I assume different lobe profiles. Here's a comparison of the hotcam, Lunati and the Lunati retarded from 6° to 2.6°.

I used the voodoo .533/.550 231/239 cam in my 355. It was very mild sounding to me and drove fine with power brakes. I idled it at 900 because the cam is splash lubricated. I don’t agree with idling anything so low to TRY to make it lope. Either it does under normal operation or it’s a small cam.

I know a cams sound depends a lot on other factors outside of the cam specs themselves. Like lower compression, idle speed, stock manifolds and restrictive exhaust can tame a cams sound. I wouldn't mind a mild almost stock sound this time around.

Just going out on a limb and say this 1st video the truck has lower compression than the car in the 2nd video. They both claim to have a lt4 hot cam even though the truck reminds me more of an old comp 262 or something.

Another example, this is a couple of the only videos for the lunati cam I started the thread about. Both of these are the same cam. Ones idling I'm guessing about 500 and the other about 1000
