I have a 85 delta 88. I took my car to an AAMCO to see how much a transmission rebuild would be. When I took it they said they need to do a diagnostic on it. I was "ok..." I don't know why you need to do a diagnostic if I just told you it needed to totally be rebuilt but whatever. So after about 2 weeks of my car being there they call and basically tell me what I told them... it needed to be rebuilt. And they gave me a price. 2700! I'm going to go get my car. That's ridiculous. I am in Fort Worth, TX is there anybody in the area that knows a trans.shop that does good work and will not try to rob me blind. Thanks!

someone should pipe in to help but just remember not many transmission guys have any knowledge of these older transmissions. You may have the 200 or the 350 or the 200 r4 and make sure whoever is rebuilding your transmission has good experience on that type of transmission.

It's a 200 r4. I didn't trust them to begin with. They couldn't even get my car started. I had to go down there on my lunch break to start it for them. I'm so mad

don't be mad, be happy that you found that out before they attempted to rebuild it and charge you

If it's only an hour away then I'm sure you could make some arrangements to get the car or transmission there.....if you or a member of your family or friend is a member of AAA you could get it towed there.
