I'm assembling my motor ( olds 403) and i lubed between the rocker arms - pushrod - lifter, and now i'm trying to set my valve lash by the preload method, and because of the lube the push rods don't stop spinning any advice?
You'll have to redo the lash with a hot engine so I'd get them close and redo them after the cam is broken in. I used the feeler gauge method to set the lash for my roller cam first time I adjusted the lash
I know there is a million different ways adjusting valves. But I always install my lifters and then prime the oiling system. I dont like a spongy lifter when trying to get zero lash, and I always lube the tip of the pushrod and the valve stem. Even if there is lube and you lightly spin the pushrod will stop spinning and the firm lifter wont give you a false reading. Then I give all hyrdaulic cam either flat tappet or roller cam 1 full turn....Then there is no need to ever recheck.
Thanks for the repley guys. GP i thought about just doing that. Hurst i'm going to try that, priming the motor to pump the lifters up, i really don't want to have to lash them while she's running lol.
