Alright so the engine in my monte is just falling apart, the timing is so far off that it back fires and diesels every time i shut it off, and when i went to finally do the timing i found out that my valve lash was so ridiculously off that two of the rocker arms where just sitting cocked sideways not even connected to the push rods.

Here's where i need some advice, on Saturday im going to be dropping in the new Distributor, timing gears, and all new pulleys for the front, and a new alternator, can anyone help me out as to where i should begin?

It's a chevy 350, the top end is stock from the old 305 in my 88 monte carlo SS.

Should i do the valve lash first, then the timing??

What steps are involved with dropping in the new Distributor and timing chain/gears ??
