malibu 305 to chevy 350

I have a 78 Malibu Classic stock with a 305, want to change to a 350 engine, which I have a rebuilt one. I haven't had a chance to get under the car to check the transmission type so unsure of the type, 350 or metric 200. Has anyone on this board had the same year car and have the metri 200 trannie? Also will the 350 mate to a metric 200? Also any suggestions on swapping if I do?

the 305 and the 350 are the same externally so yes it will bolt up in the place of the 305
