Hey guys, went and purchased a front speaker that had the same specs stated in some posted seen here in the forum, but when I tried to install, the magnet was too big. Any have a know brand speak that for sure fits without guessing?

Does the magnet keep it from fitting into the hole, or is it too tall. In my Malibu, I had to trim the dash pad a little (hidden by the speaker grille) when I replaced the OEM dash speakers.

The magnet hits the AC box preventing to go in, although it looks like if it can pass the edge of the box it will fit. I just don't want to damage the insulation that the edge has.

I had the same issue with my 87 Monte Carlo. The passenger fit but the driver side was a different issue. I found that there was a shallow version made by Pioneer that fit. Found them on Amazon and Crutchfeild. Unfortunately I do not see them on Crutchfield anymore. I did need to add a washer to the bottom of the grill to give it space for the tweeter. Also had to add bass blockers to protect them from the head unit.

My malibu only has 1 speaker in the middle right behind the center vent. I don't want to venture buying another no knowning it it will work. I already bought this one.

oh, was unaware of that. I thought they had the same arrangement as the Monte Carlo.
