If it was built for the US market, an 81 would have been a TH350C. Lockups in Malibu started in 1980.

Ah. I wondered about that. No computer in 1980 models...used the vacuum switch setup?

Yes but will say METRIC on the pan s well as the band adjustment screw

My plan is to install a Turbo 400 behind the 350 Vortec that is replacing the 267 sbc. Afterwards, I’ll look at replacing the rear end with either an 8.5, 12 bolt or 9 inch.

TH400 u need to cut the "ears" off for it to fit

That is exactly what the transmission shop told me. Thanks for the reminder.
Any idea of what to do for a driveshaft ( Turbo 400 & 350 sbc)?
